Solomon’s life reveals powerful insights for exceptional living. When God appeared to Solomon and asked him what he desired, Solomon did not ask for riches, fame, or long life. Instead, he asked for wisdom and understanding. His request revealed maturity, and God was moved by it. Your request from the Lord reveals your level of maturity.
Many believers focus on things, yet God desires that we focus on Him. When your focus is wrong, even God cannot help you. But many things begin to change when your focus returns to God and His wisdom. God expects spiritual maturity and growth in truth. He has more prepared for you than what you are currently asking for, but the secret is to think as a child of God and seek what matters most in His Kingdom.
Solomon understood that when wisdom is present, every other thing is attracted. Because he asked for wisdom, God added riches, honor, influence, and peace to his life. The wisdom of God carries greater glory than mere experiences. It is the ability to see how God does things and align yourself with His ways. The wisdom of God acts as light—it gives direction, clarity, and understanding.
God helps people who recognize their need for Him. Scripture says the meek He will guide. God fills vessels that admit emptiness. He helps you in the areas where you honestly admit you need help. Recognize and limit your limitations before God. Pride hides weakness, but humility attracts divine assistance.
Sometimes the word and promises God gives may still look unreal, but continue depending on Him. Keep your heart focused on God rather than temporary desires. Exceptional living begins when your pursuit changes from “Lord, give me things” to “Lord, give me wisdom, understanding, and Your ways.”
