Topic: THE MIND OF LEADERSHIP (Part 5)

Text: “But you should be strong. Don’t give up because you will get a reward for your good work.” – 2 Chronicles 15:7, ICB.

One of the remarkable things to observe as Jesus chose and led his disciples was that he chose people from diverse backgrounds. Peter, Andrew, James and John were fishermen, Matthew was a tax collector and not much is known about the profession of the others. But Jesus worked well with all of them.

They all had different orientations, but the master managed and led them well.

Wherever we go and whatever we do, we will have to work with people who come from different backgrounds, have different opinions, and are very different from us.

It is key that we develop the discipline of being comfortable working with people who hold opposing viewpoints and appear to have a different orientation than us. This quality is a critical leadership characteristic. Our ability to collaborate with others and find joy in their differences is important.

If you insist on always getting your way, controlling others, believing that everyone must be like you, or feeling offended when your ideas are challenged, you will not be an exceptional leader or an inspiration to those you lead or serve.

One indication of a person’s capacity is the ability to learn from others and not be offended if those on your team have opposing viewpoints.

Jesus listened to his disciples, but he always provided leadership.

TODAY’S TASK

Examine yourself to see how comfortable you are with opposing ideas and viewpoints. Our primary point of disconnect and departure from people’s ideas should be based on values.

WISDOM PUSH

You know you’re maturing when you don’t get offended when people don’t see things your way.

TODAY’S DECLARATION

In the name of Jesus, I walk in supernatural joy, and my spirit-man is greatly strengthened today in Jesus name.
