TOPIC: A HUNGER FOR GOD (PART 1)

Text: As the deer pants [longingly] for the water brooks, so my soul pants [longingly] for you.” – Psalms 42:1, AMP.

An important hunger that must be sustained in every Christian is a hunger for God – to know, experience, and manifest him more. 

This hunger was introduced to us by the Holy Spirit when we said yes to Jesus at salvation. Sadly, as time passed, many substituted this righteous hunger with other desires, and for others, the challenges of life made us consider this desire for God less important.

This is why today, you easily find people in our churches who are more interested in things than they are in Christ; we seem to want things more than an experience with the Lord. 

Dear friends, knowing God is life indeed. Life begins to take a new and glorious turn when we focus on growing in the knowledge of the Almighty God.

This is the heart of the Father to us, that we will grow in our desire to know and experience him. The Father wants to restore us to the pure hunger that was birthed in us from the beginning of our faith.

The Christian that is not in daily pursuit of knowing God better is chasing the wrong things, living the wrong way, and losing too much.

Reflect on your early days as a Christian; have you abandoned some spiritual activities? Ask God for grace to return to them.
