TOPIC: A HUNGER FOR GOD (PART 2)

Text: “All I want is to know Christ and the power of his rising from death. I want to share in Christ’s sufferings and become like him in his death.” – Philippians 3:10, ICB.

As we observe mighty men of old, we discover that they had a key obsession: knowing God. They sought God like their life depended on it because they knew it actually depended on it.

Apostle Paul expressed an intense and overwhelming desire, saying, “That I may know you”. This man had seen the demonstrations of God’s power and mighty deliverance, but he knew there was more to experience in God.

The life of a Christian is empowered in every way as we grow in the knowledge of God; this will impart our obedience, direction, desires, and so much more. The reason why many struggle to obey God is because they don’t know him. Many others struggle to hear and be led by God because they don’t know him. 

One remarkable truth we discover from scripture is that God responds when there is a genuine desire to know him. We see this proof in Exodus 33 when Moses expressed his desire to know God more a nd to experience His glory. God was pleased with this desire, and the next day, He called Moses to the mount.

Dear friend, when the desire for God is genuine, experiencing God’s power and glory is sure. Like Apostle Paul, we must say, “Lord, I want to know you more and more.”

The Lord will surely reveal Himself to anyone genuinely hungry for him.
