Topic: ACTIVATING AND SUSTAINING DAILY HELP (Part 1)
Text: “For day-by-day, men kept coming to David to help him until there was a great army, like the army of God.” – 1 Chronicle 12:22 AMP.
When we look at exceptional characters in the Bible, David stands out. He was a great man, loved by his people and a king who never lost a battle. Even when the dreaded Philistines rose to become a threat to Israel, David defeated them so well that the Philistines never rose again to threaten Israel’s security. In every way, the man was exceptional. But, despite the many good things David accomplished, he was not without flaws. He made mistakes. His pride made him against God a few times. This man committed adultery with the wife of another man and murdered him. David, indeed, made several errors.
However, there is something to be learned from David. He was never one to defend sin. He repented every time he went against God’s will. David never let his pride get in his relationship with God. In 2 Samuel 11:1-12, when Nathan told David about his sin, David cried and begged God for forgiveness.
Like David, we must never hide, justify, or defend sin. Instead, we must humble ourselves before God, ask for forgiveness and turn away from such acts or practices. This is one way we stay aligned to continue experiencing God’s help every day.
