TOPIC: BE A BLESSING
TEXT: “If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work and give generously to others in need.” – Ephesians 4:28, NLT.

Scripture tells of a remarkable promise the Lord made to Abraham in Genesis 12:2. The Lord said to him, “I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you [abundantly] and make your name great (exalted, distinguished) and you shall be a blessing [a source of great good to others].”

God wants to bless us not only for ourselves but also so that his blessings can flow through us to others. While many Christians claim to understand this, many are still blinded by their selfishness.

You are also blessed to be a blessing to others, and the greatest blessing in the world is being a blessing to others. As the Lord blesses us, he watches how we treat others. We must treat other people the way Jesus Christ loves us. His love for us has been extensively demonstrated. He freely laid down His life for us.

God expects us to be a blessing to others in whatever way we can. We are reminded in the scriptures that the generous person, who is a source of blessings to others, will prosper; when you refresh others, you will be refreshed. (Proverbs 11:24-25).

One of the proofs that we worship God with our blessings is revealed in our attitude towards giving to others. We must see beyond our needs and not withhold good from anyone when it’s within our power to do it. We must not close our eyes to the needs of others when it’s within our power to be a blessing to them.

As believers, we must be examples of kindness and good works even to unbelievers. This is what God is expecting of each of us.

WISDOM PUSH:
No one has ever become poor by giving.

TODAY’S PRAYER:
Lord, help me to win over selfishness as I manage the resources you have given me. Strengthen me to give sacrificially and prove my love for you and the brethren.
