“Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.” — Proverbs 9:6 KJV

One of the most remarkable words of Jesus is found in Matthew 4:19, where he said, “follow me, and I will make you…” Also, in Matthew 11:28, Jesus Christ said to his disciples, “come to me all of you that labour and are heavy ladened, and I will give you rest.” A key lesson is the emphasis, “follow me, and I will make you.” This emphasizes the power of association. We are made by our followership, and those we follow determine what we become.

As we follow godly and positive people, good and positive things happen in our lives.

You cannot follow a perpetually negative person and expect to attract good things. Influence is powerful.

Your relationships in life are either pulling you forward or pulling you backwards. While you cannot live in isolation, you must cultivate the ability to discern the right relationships and influences.

1. Ask the Lord to send the right people into your life; quality human beings are God’s gift.
2. Be the kind of person worth associating with.
