Relationships are powerful. Some people have gotten a negative reputation, not because they are wrong but because of those they carelessly associate with. Some people will stay away from you, not because of anything wrong you may have done, but because of the kind of people you don’t have a problem associating with. Your association reflects your value system.

In life, your character is not only what matters. Your reputation also matters; who you are is not enough; how people see you matter at certain points in your life. At a time in his earthly sojourn, Jesus asked his disciples what people thought about him, and he asked them what they thought about him. You cannot just live a life where you assume what people think doesn’t matter. While your character and integrity are essential, reputation also matters. Some doors may be closed or opened for you based on your reputation. A critical factor that influences reputation is association. Remember, he who walks with the wise will be wise, and a companion of fools will be destroyed.
