TOPIC: DISTRACTIONS (Part 1)

Text: “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14 AMP

A key strategy of the enemy is to come at us using distractions; when he cannot outrightly capture your heart, he will try to distract you. The enemy’s intentions become easily fulfilled against the potential and greatness of a person when they fall for distractions.

Many people have become victims of distraction; they cannot focus on the right things and have difficulty finishing the good things they have started. 

Dear friend, if you desire to become all God wants you to be, you must win against every distraction.

Until you win over distractions, there are certain manifestations of rest and greatness you may never experience.

As we study the scriptures, we would discover that those who became outstanding and did great things overcame distractions.

While on his earthly mission, Jesus overcame distractions. Joseph was able to overcome distractions. Apostle Paul overcame distractions. Daniel overcame distractions.

In contrast, we also see that certain persons with potential for greatness failed because they couldn’t overcome distraction. Gehazi failed because of distractions. Samson failed because of distractions, and the list is endless.

If you don’t want to live with regrets, you should be able to recognize a distraction in your life by obeying God’s Word and listening to the Holy Spirit. Indeed, God’s Word can guide us and help us stay focused, allowing us to become all God wants us to be.
