TOPIC: DISTRACTIONS (Part 3)
Text: “But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile (taint, dishonor) himself with the king’s finest food or with the wine which the king drank; so, he asked the commander of the officials that he might [be excused so that he would] not defile himself.” – Daniel 1:8, AMP
One of the greatest tragedies that can befall a person with a great destiny is being distracted by the wrong thing. A distraction is a diversion.
Many persons with potential have been distracted from their pursuits by something else that seemed and appeared better. That something looks great does not mean it is right for you; failure to rightly discern this will cause you to become a victim of distraction.
Dear friend, distractions will always exist. No matter what you do or aim for, you must be ready to face distractions. There will always be something less important that wants to distract you from the important things you should commit yourself to. All you have to do is recognize them and refuse to be a victim.
There can be no manifestation of greatness without discipline, and sadly, far too many Christians lack it because it is one area in which they have not been intentional in their growth.
You may have powerful revelations and knowledge of scriptures, but you won’t amount to much if you lack discipline. God wants to do great things in our lives, but we must present ourselves to him through discipline.
By the way, we prepare for what we pray for by working on our sense of discipline and order. Through our indiscipline, we work against the good work that God is doing in our lives.
WISDOM PUSH
One good way to keep your mind off the things you don’t want is by keeping your mind busy with what you want.
