Topic: DO NOT ADMIRE THEM (Part 10)

Text: “Leave those people, and make yourselves pure, says the Lord. Touch nothing that is unclean, and I will accept you. “I will be your father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord All-Powerful.” –  2 Corinthians‬ 6‬:17‬-18,‬ ICB‬‬.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

As we study the scriptures, one character that stands out among many is Joseph, and a key lesson we can learn from him is that he refused to join his brothers in their evil deeds. Instead, he would report on their actions to their Father. Joseph understood that he had a choice in how he acted.

Growing up, there was a popular saying, “If you can’t beat them, join them.” This ideology became the justification and excuse for many to partake in and indulge in things they had previously vowed never to partake or indulge in.

Ideologies like these are of the world, not of God, and should not be what guides and governs our lives as Christians.

Dear friend, if you can’t beat them, leave them. If you cannot beat them, live a life worthy of emulation and admiration. If you cannot win them over, move away from them. If you cannot beat them, don’t let them change you.

We must exercise caution in accepting worldly philosophies. Let us not forget that the Word of God is what should guide our lives. (Matthew 4:4). Everything we need is in God’s Word, and God speaks to us and helps us every day through his Spirit that lives in us.

As children of God and lights to our world, we must be people of sound doctrine and principles. We must be sensitive to identify what is not of God so we don’t allow it to rule and ruin ourselves. Again, if you can’t beat them, don’t join them.
