TOPIC: DOES MONEY ANSWER ALL THINGS? (Part 2)

Text: 1 Timothy 6:10 AMP – “For the love of money [that is, the greedy desire for it and the willingness to gain it unethically] is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves [through and through] with many sorrows.”

The Bible makes us understand in 1 Timothy 6:10 that the uncontrolled love for money can give the wrong direction to a person. There is actually a thing called uncontrolled, unbridled and wild love for money.

A key question we need to ask ourselves is, “Is the love of God in my heart truly stronger than my love for money?”

“Is the fear of the Lord truly exalted in my heart above all else?”

When the pursuit and love for money are allowed to control a person’s life, it can destroy their destiny.

Many think, sleep, and worry about money. Some Christians will stay away from worship and activities that will help their spiritual growth because of the pursuit of money.

Jesus admonished us in Luke 12:15 that “A man’s life is not measured by the many things he owns.”

These days, not many prioritise their spiritual health and growth. They wordlessly tell you that they will do anything for money, and they believe whoever tells them to prioritise their spiritual health does not love and care for them or is out to deceive them. We must consciously watch this.

We must remind ourselves that our pursuits for things and our views on material things cannot be the same as those of unbelievers.

While we must be diligent, consistent and faithful in our business and ventures, we must not allow anything to take God’s place in our lives. Everything must have its place and God’s place must not be negotiable.

Make a firm decision that the pursuit of money must never come between you and what God expects you to do.

TODAY’S DECLARATION

In the name of Jesus, today I receive divine wisdom not to be ruled and controlled by money and material things.
