TOPIC: DOES MONEY ANSWER ALL THINGS? (Part 3)

Text: 1 Timothy 6:10 AMP – “For the love of money [that is, the greedy desire for it and the willingness to gain it unethically] is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves [through and through] with many sorrows.”

There is a popular scripture that people use to justify an unbridled love for money. It is Ecclesiastes 10:19 which says, “Money answers all things.” This scripture has been wrongly interpreted and negatively stretched. It has become a justification for many to chase money by all means, and they are quick to tell you, “Even the Bible tells you that money answers all things.”

When it comes to rightly discerning and understanding scripture, we must pay attention to the pretext, context and post-text. Ecclesiastes 10:19 was actually referring to a context. It does not mean that money answers all things in life. There were things stated within the context of that scripture, and then the writer says money can meet all of these things. That is, money answers all these things stated.

Dear friend, contrary to what many assume, money cannot buy many things or solve all problems. 

Money can help you pay for medical treatment but cannot guarantee health and healing. 

0Money can put you in a great location to deal with your worries, miseries and troubles, but money cannot give you peace. Only God can give you peace.

Money can help a man marry a physically attractive and beautiful lady, but only God give you a great wife.

Money can give you a beautiful house; only God can give you a truly peaceful home. 

Money can put your children in the best schools, but only God can sustain their health to attend that school.

So, money does not answer all things. It is the grace of God that answers all things, and grace is not bought with money. God’s grace has been made available to us through Christ. As we accepted Jesus, we came into his grace and help.

This is why we must esteem God’s grace above everything else. Be careful not to believe or assume that money answers all things. It is the grace of God that answers all things.
