Topic: ENCOURAGING YOURSELF (PART 4)

Bible Text: “Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” – 1 Samuel 30:6

Our bible text for today, 1 Samuel 30:6, shows us that David was in a difficult situation; everyone around him was disappointed in him, felt he had let them down, and even considered assaulting him. This situation was a sufficient cause for discouragement and depression. It was sufficient to become upset with God and disappointed in himself. But David encouraged himself and moved forward.

How you respond to adversity reveals critical areas of your life that may be lacking in growth. Some people withdraw from everyone, while others turn away from God. It’s okay to feel down, but don’t stay down. Learn how to talk yourself up and push yourself forward consistently.

WISDOM PUSH

1. Examine your reaction to your low points.
2. Develop the discipline of pushing yourself forward.
3. Believe that even in your darkest hour, God will make a way.
