Text: EXTENDING GRACE (Part 5)

Text: “Do not be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If someone does wrong to you, then forgive him. Forgive each other because the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13, ICB.

 

How many times have you failed at something despite your good desires? How often have you spoken the wrong words, even though you meant well and had the best intentions?

How many times have you hurt others even when you never meant to? How often have you failed to meet the expectations others had of you?

Of course, you wouldn’t be able to count if I were to wait for your response. You would have fallen short in these areas more than once, but others forgave you and saw you beyond your shortcomings.

In the same way, we also have to consider the limitations and humanity of others.

We need to understand that people will disappoint us because they are humans; sometimes, it will be unintentional and other times, it will be because their humanity got in the way.

We must develop the discipline and understanding of getting past issues and the limitations of humans. This understanding will help you move past issues and smile over what would have previously made you angry and bitter.

The message here is to extend grace to others, lovingly express how you feel about their actions and inactions, help others to improve in how they love and serve you, and when they fall short, choose not to give up on them, just as God has refused to give up on you.

You are a recipient of grace; choose to extend the same to others.
