Topic: GET YOUR SPIRITUAL FOCUS RIGHT (Part 2)

Those we look up to will affect how we live—the people we make our models will affect how we pattern our lives. We must be careful not to copy bad examples. No matter how well-liked or respected a person is, if what they do contradicts God’s word, it cannot become right or justified simply because we admire or respect them.

When those you expect to be doing what you think is right are not doing it, let the word of God remain your standard.

Don’t allow the devil to give you reasons to undermine God’s house or lower your spiritual standards.

There are people in churches today who have lost their spiritual focus and passion because they made other people their criterion and focus. Some people have allowed the conduct and attitude of others to negatively affect how they serve God. There are those in churches who are backslidden and some who have become weak in kingdom service because certain people they have been looking up to were no longer committed.

Even though Hopni and Phineas were bad examples and people of great influence, Samuel refused to allow the misbehaviour of any person to affect his spiritual focus, discipline, and commitments.

For you not to end wrongly, don’t make any person your ultimate spiritual focus. If others fail to do their duty or fail in their Christian disciplines, make sure you stick to yours. Allow no one’s flaws or inconsistencies to cause you to dishonour God.
