Topic: GOD WANTS TO KEEP YOU FROM EVIL (Part 1).

Bible Text: “The Lord will protect him and keep him alive, And he will be called blessed in the land; You do not hand him over to the desire of his enemies.” – Psalms 41:2, AMP

In Psalms 23, David describes God as one who keeps, protects, and cares for us. He compared God’s love for us to that of a shepherd for his sheep. This is precisely what God is to us; he is our shepherd, keeper, and defender. Psalm 23 is a revelation to embrace, not just a verse to memorize. God is the ultimate shepherd, and he is the shepherd that knows his sheep by name.

One of the advantages of having a relationship with the Lord and accepting him as your shepherd is that He will keep you from danger, pain, shame, and losses. The shepherd is responsible for keeping the sheep safe. The shepherd is never happy when the sheep learns through pain. He is so concerned about the sheep that he does not want it to learn through pain. Friends, you must live each day knowing that God loves you so much that he desires to keep you pain-free, and this should encourage you to listen to and obey him in all things.

1. God is your shepherd, and he deeply cares for you.
2. You can’t see God as a shepherd unless you see yourself as sheep; sheep recognize their need for the shepherd.
