Topic: HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD (Part 6)

Bible Text: “Call to me, and I will answer you and tell you [and even show you] great, and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.” – Jeremiah 33:3 AMP

In Colossians 3:15, God says, “Let your heart be always guided by the peace of the Anointed One, who called you to peace as part of his one body. And always be thankful.” This is yet another benefit of hearing God’s voice. The voice of God brings peace, and it brings encouragement. It is impossible to remain troubled or afraid after hearing God’s voice.

Dear friend, the more we spend time with God, the more we hear him, and the easier it will be to discern and understand his voice and leading. Think about it: after hearing a baby cry over and over for a long time, a mother can figure out what each cry means. When the baby cries, the mother can tell you that the baby is crying because she is hot. When the baby cries again, the mother says, “Check his diaper; she’s peed.” Again, the baby cries, and the mother says, “The baby is hungry.”

Similarly, the more you spend time with God (through his word and in prayer/worship), the easier and better you will understand his voice and his leading. No matter how much anyone teaches you, you need to experience it for yourself; only that way will you grow effectively in your experience of God’s voice.

1. Pray about anything that disturbs your peace.
2. Spend quality time with God every day.
3. Pray in the Holy Spirit whenever you feel overwhelmed by anything.

Lord Jesus, I ask that you make my heart sensitive to your voice and guidance.
