TOPIC: INCREASE BY OBEDIENCE

TEXT: “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;” – Isaiah‬ 1‬:19‬, AMPC.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

One of the signs of wisdom is obedience to God. Wise people obey God. We read in the Bible about a poor widow who had no idea how to deal with her situation (2 Kings 4:1-7). She was in debt, and the loan sharks would take her children if she couldn’t pay. This woman approached the man of God for assistance; she needed divine intervention. In response, the man of God gave her an instruction, and her obedience to this instruction resulted in a positive change in her situation. She had more than enough to pay her debts and live on. This woman came into surplus through obedience. Our obedience to God brings us blessings.

Perhaps God has been telling you to do certain things, and you have been ignoring them. Maybe God has instructed you to fast, but you have been too lazy or too full of excuses to fast. Perhaps the Lord has been asking you to offer a sacrificial seed, but you’ve been making excuses for why you can’t or why what God is asking of you is too much. You are still unaware that obeying God will result in unprecedented growth and increase.

Dear friend, obedience to God positions us for gains. Wise people obey God. When we obey God in everything, our lives get better. So let us wholeheartedly embrace this principle today: obedience to God no matter what it will cost us.

Lord, I pray for a humble heart that will always yield to your counsel and instruction. Help me always to be open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
