TOPIC: STAY ON COURSE (PART 11)
Text: “The Lord says, “forget what happened before. Do not think about the past.” – Isaiah 43:18, ICB.
Failure is inevitable in any endeavour. Many success stories we celebrate today result from people refusing to give up after many failed attempts or some no-so-pleasant outcomes.
Having a healthy view of setbacks and failure is healthy for a comeback. It is important to understand that failure is not permanent until you make it so. Simply because you failed at anything does not suggest that you are a failure.
No matter what happens, it would help if you kept believing in yourself and your abilities. If we are going to remain focused on our pursuits, then we need to develop the wisdom and perspective to rise after a fall or failed attempt.
A fundamental wisdom to rising after a fall is acknowledging and accepting the outcome. Denying, blaming or rationalizing your failure will only prevent you from addressing the root causes and finding solutions.
When things don’t go as expected, be honest and realistic about what went wrong, how it impacted you and others, and what you can do differently the next time.
The ultimate goal must be to learn from every experience and apply that knowledge to become a better person. The failure you learnt from wasn’t a failure but a valuable education.
