TOPIC: THE FRUITS OF FAITH (Part 3)

TEXT: “By faith, Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” – Hebrews 11:8, NKJV.

There are many reasons why people disobey God, but there is never an advantage to disobeying Him.

Some people disobey God’s commands out of rebellion, preferring to live on their own ‘terms’. Some people disobey God because they don’t think or care about what He says.

Others are aware of God’s commands and sincerely desire to obey them, but they struggle due to certain weaknesses.

Interestingly, some people disregard and disobey God’s commands because they don’t make sense to them. These people subject God’s counsel to all forms of negative analysis and attempt to poke holes in everything. For these ones, they have not stepped into the power and possibilities of walking with God by faith.

As faithful believers in the Lord Jesus, we must joyfully receive God’s word and keep our focus on Jesus, the one who birthed faith in us. (Hebrews 12:2). This is how we will be equipped for faithful obedience.

Our devotion to Christ is demonstrated by faithfully obeying what He says. Indeed, loving God empowers us to do whatever He commands.

Re-examine what loving God means to you.

Whatever God instructs us to give or to do will never be to our loss or shame.
