Topic: THE HAND OF HELP (Part 5)
Text: “Good people are concerned that the poor are treated fairly. But the wicked don’t care.” – Proverbs 29:7, ICB.
It is impossible to claim to have the love of God dwelling richly in your heart and not be moved by the needs, oppression, and pains of others, especially when we see injustice.
Every child of God must despise injustice. There is a very powerful scripture I would love to reference. It is Proverbs 21:15 TPT, “When justice is served, the lovers of God celebrate and rejoice…”
Every true lover of God is a lover of justice, even if we are not the immediate beneficiaries. Justice honours God and should delight us.
As Christians, we cannot ignore injustice, oppression, or the plight of the weak and disadvantaged among us. God appreciates it when we have a heart of compassion for the weak and vulnerable. We must not close our eyes when injustice and wickedness are being meted out to them.
We make God’s love known to others by expressing empathy and concern for people who are weak, poor, and vulnerable.
I want to remind us of God’s word in Jeremiah 22:3 ICB and let it guide us to do good and seek justice for others. It says, “This is what the Lord says: Do what is fair and right. Protect those who have been robbed from those who rob them; don’t do wrong to the orphans and widows. Don’t hurt them. Don’t kill innocent people here.”
This is God’s word to us today.
