Topic: THE LOVE CODE (Part 5)

Text: “Above all, constantly echo God’s intense love for one another, for love will be a canopy over a multitude of sins.” – 1 Peter 4:8, TPT

As believers in the Lord Jesus, we need the Love of God to indeed dwell in our hearts so that it guides us on how to see and respond to issues that would have caused us to harbour offence in our hearts.

While you may want to criticise and condemn those you believe are committing “big sins”, you need to know that the weapon of offence in your heart is a lot more dangerous because many times you can be in denial that you are not in offence and this perpetuates certain other forms of sin and rebellion against God and his words.

Even the smallest of issues can offend us at times. You believe someone did not treat you with respect, and you are offended. Perhaps you think the pastor’s sermon was an indirect attack on you, and you are offended. Other times, you may feel underappreciated by your spouse and become offended.

When we allow ourselves to be offended and do not deal with it, it leads to many ungodly actions and words.

Dear friend, whenever you allow an offence to remain in your heart, you open the door to a strange spirit.

If you believe someone has offended you, forgive them; do not let the enemy use offence in your heart to control or manipulate you.

TODAY’S TASK:

Consciously repent of every offence you have held and harboured against anyone. Recognise that such behaviour is incompatible with a good Christian character.

WISDOM PUSH

Allowing offence against anyone to remain in your heart has a negative impact on how you perceive and receive many good things.

TODAY’S DECLARATION

Lord Jesus, by your grace, may unbelievers see my life and be attracted to you. Help me, Lord.
