Topic:THE MIND OF LEADERSHIP (Part 9)

Text: “In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served. He came to serve. The Son of Man came to give his life to save many people.” –  Mark 10:45, ICB.

There are various leadership styles that reflect how a leader approaches situations, provides direction, performs tasks, and manages others. There are many different approaches, including autocratic, democratic, and transactional.

Jesus exemplified a leadership model known as “servant-style leadership.” This is a distinct leadership style in which the leader is more interested, passionate, and focused on the interests of the team or organisational members so that the leader wants them to thrive and reach their full potential. The leader understands that with this approach, the organisation will win big.

The servant leader is more concerned with the development of others and the organisation than their personal aggrandisement. They understand that if the people are good, the organisation will benefit from their growth, so they foster an environment that allows those they serve to thrive.

This is the leadership model that Jesus demonstrated. He would always prioritise the needs of others over his own and always act as a servant. Jesus led with love, compassion, and the heart of someone committed to serving.

As Christians, we are expected to be “Christ-like” even in positions of leadership or influence.

Dear friend, we can become exceptional leaders by demonstrating compassion and Love, empowering others, and fostering a culture of respect and support for one another. This is the example that Jesus provides.

Make a commitment to find at least one younger person you can help and guide to become a better person over the next 24 months.

WISDOM PUSH

A leader must remain a source of hope. You gradually lose your essence as a leader when you stop providing hope and vision to those you serve.
