Today’s Word: The Old and The New (Part 16)

Bible reference: 1 Kings 13:11-30

A critical and powerful lesson from our bible passage is that disobedience and compromise are not without their consequences.

Choosing any other way against God’s way may feel pleasurable and satisfying in the immediate, but it comes with its bondage, baggage, and limitations. The young prophet disobeyed God, and it led to his death.

People’s opinions, pressures, and all kinds of voices may point us to the gains and pleasures of compromise, but they never inform us of the consequences.

While God’s grace makes you aware of God’s ever-present help, it does not deemphasize the consequences of disobedience to God. Indeed, there are consequences. And yes, it is not God punishing you – they are just outcomes of rejecting the path to true peace and God’s leadership.

Today’s Prophetic Declaration:

In the name of Jesus, by the help of the Holy Spirit, I delight in righteousness; I love what God loves and hate what God hates.
