TOPIC: THE PROFIT OF OBEDIENCE (Part 1)
Text: Simon said, “Master, we have been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I will let out the nets” – Luke 5:5.

Obedience is the willingness to follow instructions, counsel, and direction, especially from a higher authority. Obedience to God can mean hearing God’s Word and acting on it. Obedience to God attracts His blessings. When you choose to obey the Lord, you will find favour with both God and man, and you will live in his will for your life.

In Luke 5, we see that Simon was an excellent example of what it means to be submissive to God, and the result of his obedience surprised him. Jesus gave Peter an instruction, Peter obeyed, and he had such a great catch that the net began to break, forcing him to call his business partners for assistance. This is how Peter went from working all night and catching nothing to having a catch so large that he couldn’t handle it alone. Again, this is the result of following God’s instructions.

Obedience comes from a heart that trusts God. Because obeying God is a fundamental way we show him honour, the Father is pleased with us as we honour him through obedience.

Dear friend, it is not enough to hear or read God’s word; it must be accompanied by a commitment to obey. The blessing is in obeying. Obedience to God can turn lack into abundance, shame into glory, and the ordinary into the extraordinary. Therefore, it is always profitable to obey God.

WISDOM PUSH:
There is no loss in obedience; wise people obey God.

I declare that God is always at work in me to make me willing and able to obey His purpose. In the name of Jesus, I experience God’s peace; it keeps my thought and heart quiet and at rest.
