TOPIC: THE PROFIT OF OBEDIENCE (Part 3)
Text: “This love means living in obedience to whatever God commands us. For to walk in love toward one another is the unifying commandment we have heard from the beginning.” – 2 John 1:6, TPT.

An instruction always precedes every great act of God. Our response to that instruction will determine our experience after that. Therefore, it pays to hear God and to obey him. God’s instructions are not just to be written down; they must be followed.

A remarkable story is shared in John 2:6-9 about a couple who invited Jesus to their wedding. This wedding was attended by Jesus’ disciples as well as his mother. At some point during the wedding, the host ran out of wine. This was going to be a humiliating situation. The mother of Jesus informed Jesus, and then she told those in charge of serving at the wedding that whatever Jesus told them to do, they had to do it. Mary, the mother of Jesus, understood the blessing of obeying God. The servants obeyed Jesus, which resulted in an unusual provision. Obedience to God never takes us backwards in life.

Jesus’ instruction did not sound logical, but they obeyed, and what would have resulted in shame was averted.

Dear friend, do whatever God tells you to do. Obey whatever God asks of you. Follow God wherever He leads you. You will never regret obeying God.

Knowing God’s word without obeying it is hypocrisy.
