Topic: THE WAY OF THE BELIEVER (Part 4)

Text: “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.” – Romans 6:14, NKJV.

God’s word tells us in Romans 6:14 that sin should not be our master because we are not under the law but under God’s grace. God’s grace that we enjoy is never a license or approval to live a sinning life, but it is an empowerment to live above sin.

God’s word counsels us in 1 John 3:4 that we should not embrace lawlessness, for anyone who practises sinning also practises lawlessness.

While we are not under the law, we have no justification or an excuse to be lawless. We have not been redeemed to live a life not governed by the fear of God. We are saved and daily helped by the Holy Spirit to live above sin and everything that seeks to contend with the quality of life the Father desires for us.

As Christians, we must understand that there is liberty that is not of God; it is the liberty that makes a person lawless where they believe they are free to do whatever they like. We have not been saved to become gods to ourselves, or else we will play into the enemy’s agenda.

We must live daily with a consciousness of being under the government and authority of the Lord who saved us. This will be our daily testimony as we allow God’s word to regulate our lives and yield to the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

As God’s people, our ultimate desire must be to fulfil God’s will, live a life that honours God in all things, and bring others to the knowledge of our master, Jesus Christ.
