Our spiritual maturity is revealed when the Holy Spirit teaches and guides us on what truly matters to save us from unproductivity, regret, shame, losses, and misalignment with the Lord.

In Philippians 3:13, Apostle Paul mentions that he was living with a strong sense of priority. He said, “One thing I always do, forgetting the past things. I press to reach the goal that is before me.” This is the statement of someone who recognizes what is more important to him as he runs the Christian race.

When a person fails to understand what is truly important in their lives, they will waste time on the wrong things, waste productive years, face unnecessary embarrassments, never rising to where God wants them to be, and never maximizing the resources God gives them for what God wants them to do, never rising to a position of influence and relevance, and they will always feel others have an advantage they don’t.

As Christians, we must apply God’s wisdom in setting our priorities, and we must never forget that our focus cannot be the same as an unbeliever’s. Indeed, our priorities reveal the depth of our spirituality.
