TOPIC: TRUST IN HIS FAITHFULNESS (Part 3)

TEXT: “But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:3, NLT.

Many people lack importance and respect today because they have a history of being unfaithful.

Nobody desires or honours an unreliable and inconsistent person. If people can’t count on you, they can’t really respect you. 

Even if you are available, you will still not be desirable when you are unreliable. God’s Word tells us in Proverbs 25:19 (NLT) that putting confidence in an unreliable man in times of trouble is like chewing with a broken tooth or walking on a lame foot. Here is how the passion translation of the Bible puts Proverbs 25:19: “You can’t depend on an unreliable person when you really need help.”

For people to lean on you at a critical moment, you must have a track record of being faithful and reliable. In light of today’s topic, our God can be relied upon at the most critical moments because he is the ever-present help in times of trouble.

We honour our God first for His power, then most importantly, for his faithfulness. According to Hebrews 13:8, our God is described as the same yesterday, today and forever. This indicates the consistency of his character, the persistence of his love, the limitlessness of his power and the reliability of his commitment.

Our God doesn’t have bad days; he doesn’t have mood swings. He needs nothing from us, but we need him for everything. Everything he does is for us.

When friends and family fail you, he will still be there. When even your most trusted ally can’t keep up with you anymore, your heavenly Father will always be there. Even if your spouse fails in their promises or commitments, God will always be there for you. You can trust and lean on him. Always proudly boast about the faithfulness of your God. Nothing should make you afraid; God loves you; he will keep you and fulfil his word concerning you.
