Today’s Word: Understanding Worship (Part 4)

Today’s Bible Reference: Romans 12:1, TPT – “Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvellous mercies? To surrender yourselves to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.”

 

Worship should come naturally to the believer, not forced or done mindlessly with no thought or intention. Many people use songs of worship as a tool to ‘manipulate’ God, or merely sing worship songs as a compulsory part of their devotion or worship service. This is not right; this is not worship. 

Worship comes from the heart, a desire to honour God, and is intentional in expressing honour and reverence for God. This is why we first worship God with our everyday lives, not just in the words of a song.  

Let us worship God with intention from our hearts, meaning every word we say when we sing songs of worship and say words of adoration. 

Today’s Prophetic Declaration:

All through today, let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be an offering of worship to you, Oh God.
