Topic: WHY CHARACTER IS NECESSARY (Part 11)

Text: “Good people are guided by honesty. But dishonesty will destroy those who are not trustworthy.” – Proverbs 11:3, ICB.

In Numbers 22-24, we are told how prophet Balam and Balak, King of Moab, conspired to spiritually oppose the children of God. King Balak had heard of the exploits of Israel and all they had done to the Amorites and was threatened by this chosen people of God. Balak decided to contract an unrighteous prophet called Balam. They entered a partnership to attack Israel spiritually. But all they tried didn’t work. Balam confessed that no curse against Israel could work because the blessing on them was irreversible.

However, we see a twist in Numbers 25. As the men of Israel began to commit sexual sin with the women of Moab, they became exposed. A strange sickness invaded Israel, and many of her men were killed. 

Dear friend, what curses and enchantments from Balam and Balak could not achieve, the moral weakness of the people opened the door to it.

What witchcraft cannot achieve against you, character weakness will empower it to happen. We must open all areas of our lives daily for the refiner’s fire to access. For our good, we need the Holy Spirit to work on our lives every day.
