Topic: WHY CHARACTER IS NECESSARY (Part 13)

Text: “But the spirit gives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. There is no law that says these things are wrong.” – Galatians 5:22-23, ICB.

One of the most important proofs that a person is truly walking in the spirit is revealed by the excellence in their character. As we yield to the Holy Spirit, he refines our character and develops the character of Christ in us.

This testimony of yielding to the spirit of God is further revealed in our behaviour under pressure. In the face of pressure, the real you is revealed. In times of crisis, who you really are within begins to manifest.

We see an excellent example of someone with solid character as we x-ray the life of Joseph. Potiphar’s wife pressured him to engage in an ungodly act; he refused to fall for the pressure even when it was apparent his refusal would come with dire consequences. The strength and excellence of Joseph’s character was revealed under pressure.

Dear friends, we must pay attention to building sound, godly character to fulfil our destiny the way God desires because excellence in character is the vehicle through which destiny is fulfilled.

As we esteem the word of God above all else and yield ourselves wholeheartedly to the dealings of the Holy Spirit, the character of Christ will be formed in our lives.

We grow in godly character as we walk with God, spend time with his word and in fellowship with him.
