Topic: Wisdom Wins (Part 14)

Text: “The person who gets wisdom is good to himself. And the one who has understanding will succeed.” – Proverbs 19:8, ICB.

Self-love is the foundation and basis for all the love we express to others. Those who do not love themselves cannot love others genuinely. 

Thus, it is usually cause for concern when someone intentionally harms or deprives themselves of good things. You wonder if they care about themselves and whether others feel safe around them.

As Christians, we must make commitments to ourselves that demonstrate self-love.

For example, the person who avoids strife is demonstrating love for self. The person who begins and ends their day with God’s word and prayer demonstrates love for self. The person who shows honour and walks with integrity demonstrates love for self.

When we ignore what is godly and righteous, we are not demonstrating love for ourselves.

According to today’s bible text, the person who gets wisdom is good to himself. Wisdom will save you. (Proverbs 2:12). Wisdom will lengthen your days. (Proverbs 9:11). Wisdom will keep you healthy (Proverbs 3:7-8). I encourage you to continue to grow in godly wisdom daily.

Take some time to meditate on Proverbs 24:14.
