Empowered for Answers

Scripture: Psalm 37:3–7

God’s desire is not only for His children to pray but also to live a life of answered prayer. The foundation for this kind of life is His Word, which equips every believer to know Him, trust Him, and walk confidently in His promises.

The Word of God is essential because it nourishes our spirits (Matthew 4:4; Jeremiah 15:16), strengthens our faith, and keeps us spiritually alive. It also serves as our guide, directing us according to God’s will and showing us how to access His promises. Beyond that, Scripture is the believer’s instruction manual, teaching us how to live the Kingdom life (2 Timothy 3:16). It reveals our identity in Christ—who we are, what we have, and what we are capable of through Him.

God’s Word also teaches us how to pray effectively. Jesus instructed His disciples on prayer because effective prayer is rooted in understanding God’s will rather than acting out of fear or ignorance. God’s desire is that His people ask in faith and receive answers.

To walk in answered prayer, believers must first overcome fear. Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly says, “Do not be afraid,” reminding us that fear limits faith and hinders spiritual progress. Like Peter, who began to sink when he focused on the storm instead of Jesus, fear causes us to lose sight of God’s power. We overcome fear by continually declaring God’s Word and standing on His promises (1 Peter 2:6; Philippians 4:6).

Secondly, believers must demonstrate genuine trust in God. Trust is the natural result of faith, and faith grows through the knowledge of God. The more we know Him through His Word, the more confidently we trust Him. Proverbs 3:5–7 and Romans 4:17–21 remind us to rely on God’s faithfulness rather than our own understanding, just as Abraham believed God’s promises despite impossible circumstances.

A life empowered for answers is built on a heart that feeds on God’s Word, rejects fear, and fully trusts Him. As believers grow in the knowledge of God, they develop unwavering faith that positions them to experience His guidance, His power, and His answers in every area of life.
